Our milk is pasteurized at low temperatures to retain it’s natural goodness. Non-pasteurized milk cannot be sold in retail stores in the State of Idaho. Our milk is homogenized at the time of bottling. We do not give our cows any artificial hormones. If a cow gets sick she is first treated with natural herbs and vitamins which are approved for use in organic animals. If these treatments do not work, then for humane reasons (we are a small dairy and we really like our cows) the cows will be removed from the herd and treated with whatever is necessary to get her healthy again, but she can never again be a milk cow in our herd. Our cows are not given any chemicals and none are added to the milk.
Our cows are grazed during the growing season, during the rest of the year they are fed organic hay and corn silage, which are grown on the farm and organic barley which is purchased from a neighbor. The only other feed our cows receive at this time is salt. The milk is bottled at a local organic bottling plant and sent to stores as soon as possible. Since we are just getting started with bottling, at this time we only sell milk, after we are more established we will look at expanding our line of products.
