My husband and I are trying very hard to find good quality organic milk products, and have not included much dairy in our diet because we are finding out so many unhealthy things about mainstream dairy products. May I ask a few questions about your milk?
    Is your milk:
    pasturiezed?
    homogonized?
Do you give your cows any mecidines / chemicals or hormones?

Also, do you sell any other dairy products besides the milk?

Thank you so much for your time,
    Sharla

p.s. my husband saw your milk in the Boise Co-Op today.

Mrs.Davison, Thank you for your interest in our milk. I would be happy to answer any questions you have. Our milk is pasteurized at low temperatures to retain it’s natural goodness. Non pasteurized milk cannot be sold in retail stores in the State of Idaho. Our milk is homogenized at the time of bottling. We do not give our cows any artificial hormones. If a cow gets sick she is first treated with natural herbs and vitamins which are approved for use in organic animals. If these treatments do not work, then for humane reasons (we are a small dairy and we really like our cows) the cows will be removed from the herd and treated with whatever is necessary to get her healthy again, but she can never again be a milk cow in our herd. Our cows are not given any chemicals and none are added to the milk. I would like to tell you a little about us. We have been dairying for 25 years we are small, about 45 cows, our cows are grazed during the growing season, during the rest of the year they are fed organic hay and corn silage, which are grown on the farm and organic barley which is purchased from a neighbor. The only other feed our cows receive at this time is salt. The milk is bottled at a local organic bottling plant and sent to stores as soon as possible. Since we are just getting started with bottling, at this time we only sell milk, after we are more established we will look at expanding our line of products. Thank you again for your interest, if you have further questions or comments about our milk please feel free to comment here or email us at organicacresidaho@gmail.com

Why do you homogenize the milk? Does this not affect the chemical makeup?

Answer: Brett, thank you for your question about our milk. We homogenize our milk because that is what most consumers want and expect. It is not required by law as is pasteurization but most people are not familiar with milk that the cream separates out and they think it is spoiled. Homogenization does not change the chemical make up of the milk, just the physical make up. Homogenization is done by passing the milk through a series of pistons that put the milk under pressure to break up the fat particles so they do not float to the top of the milk but they are still in the milk. Thanks again for you interest. Don and Renae Halverson-Organic Acres

    Hi Don and Renae,
I’m wondering if there is any way to purchase your milk before it is pasteurized and homogenized (raw)? I have been getting some goat milk locally but the supply is not enough for my family. Please let me know. Thanks so much,
